Anaya (she/her) is a Black artist and writer from Missouri, now based in Florida after her Disney College Program. Her dream has always been to tell stories to help herself and others feel seen. Now she's with PELEA as a Art Director and Cleanup Colorist for character turnarounds to continue to follow that dream.
Lorena Muccifora
2D Animator & Character Designer
Lorena (she/her) is an Italian 2D Animator/Character Designer based in Italy. After she concluded her studies focused on Storyboard, 2D Animation and Character Design, she started working on some independent projects. She's collaborating with DreamArc Animation Studio as an animator and is working on Pelea as a clean-up artist.
Janet Mah
Animator & Illustrator
Janet (she/they) is a Chinese-American animator/illustrator based in New York/New Jersey. They began working on Pelea due to the project’s cultural and environmental messages. She has worked as a rough animator for independent projects such as “The People’s Joker” by Vera Drew and “Buggie” by Ellen Jung and is working as a colorist/additional rough animator for Pelea.
Malu Mirones
Visual Development Artist
Malu (she/her) is a Panamanian illustrator and visual development artist, currently based in New York City. As an illustrator and storyteller, Malu’s work focuses on fantasy, magical realism, and finding the wonder and magic in everyday life, themes and passions that were first ignited by animation. Malu was drawn to PELEA because of the film’s themes around environmentalism, anti-imperialism, and LGBTQ+ representation, especially within Latin America, and she’s excited for the world to see this wonderful and powerful project come to life.
Matthew Cammock
Animator
Matthew (he/him) is an animator and SCAD alumnus who has been inspired by meaningful and reflective storytelling, and Pelea is one of those stories. Matthew’s interest in the film is motivated by its artistic beauty and its historical significance pertaining to the Amazon Rainforest.
Ricardo Corona
Background artist
Ricardo is a Mexican American Background Artist and Visual Developer based in the Inland Empire in Southern California. His heart and soul is background art and visual development but he also considers himself to be a jack of all trades kind of artist working in a variety of disciplines and mediums. I’ve had the pleasure of working in various projects as a background painter, such as PELEA, but also as an animator and motion graphics artist. I like to take people on a journey into the worlds I’m building and the stories I like to tell are about self-discoveries, transformation and spirituality. I’d also like to mention that I'm a self-published artist! I published Compendium of Partemsian Wildlife in 2021, a fantasy creature picture book.
Medge Ross
Casting Director
Medge Ross (she/her) is a prominent NYC/LA bicoastal casting director. Given her outgoing and sociable nature, she sought a career that would enable her to meet new individuals and acquire new skills daily. This motivation led her to become a casting director, and she thoroughly enjoys all aspects of the casting industry. This year, she collaborated with Director Jamie Margolin on PELEA. She takes pride in being part of the PELEA team and casting the ideal voice talents for this exceptional animation. Casting Director Medge Ross maintains a bi-coastal office in New York and Los Angeles, CA. She is a distinguished member of BAFTA and the AICP. Their projects are featured on Netflix and other streaming platforms and have garnered awards at esteemed film festivals.
Ricardo Ricaud
Clean up artist
Ricardo (he/him) is a Mexican illustrator and Clean-up Artist based in Mexico. he loves animated movies, and the concept of creating life and motion through drawing intrigued him so much that he hopes to learn more about it and study animation in a near future, even though he only has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and not from an art school he’s still pasion about it even if he has to self-learned, he has contributed in a few short-films and indie projects, he joined PELEA as Clean-up artist, he was drawn of the story, characters and the concept of the important of protecting the environment, he's glad to be part of a fantastic team and contribute in an amazing project.
Clarke Phillips
Grants Lead / Outreach Coordinater
Clarke (sher/her) earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) in 2022, specializing in Film Directing. At UNCSA, she directed three short films: You Know His Name, Suga Brown, and In Her Absence. After graduating, she co-directed "The Son That Didn't Shine," a short documentary for the NAACP Cinematic Shorts Competition in 2023. Clarke completed another short film, "Sweet Pea" (2024), in collaboration with Chromatic Black. Based in North Carolina, Clarke's work reflects her personal experiences along with past and present events that affect marginalized communities. After meeting Jamie at a film event, Clarke joined the team as a grant and outreach coordinator, helping PELEA receive funding for completion!
Sarah Janssen
Color Script Artist Designer & Illustrator
Sarah (sher/her) is a 2D concept artist and illustrator based in Los Angeles with a passion for storytelling through animation. Sarah is drawn to animation for its unique ability to tell meaningful stories that resonate with audiences, leaving a lasting emotional impact. Being part of PELEA, even in a small way as a color artist, has been both a joy and an honor, as its story aligns with her love for powerful, heartfelt narratives. Having lived in/visited 10 countries in her 20’s, Sarah now weaves her vibrant life experiences and perspectives into her art, bringing depth and authenticity to the stories she helps create.
Isa Vicente
Clean Up Animator
Isa (sher/her) is a Spanish 2D Animator based in Dublin. After graduating in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, she participated on several projects as an illustrator, designer, and comic artist. She has collaborated in several short-films’ clean-up and color, and also has some experience in cut-out animation. She joined the PELEA team as a clean-up artist, proud to be part of a project with such a meaningful message on environmental activism, minorities representation and LGBTQ+ rights.
Lina Breining
Composer
Lina Breining (sher/her) is an NYC based composer and orchestrator for film, animation, and media from Austin, TX. Her music has been featured at Academy Award-qualifying film festivals and at venues such as USC's School of Cinematic Arts and Lincoln Center's New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Lina recently scored her first feature film, which premiered in Los Angeles. Additionally, she has collaborated with an animator at Pixar whose short was selected by PBS for their Rising Artist series. Lina has also worked for the music team on the Tony Awards. She holds a Master of Music in Screen Scoring from New York University. An avid lover of animation and using music to tell meaningful stories, Lina is thrilled to join the creative team of PELEA!
Karina Rosas
Rough and Clean Up Animator
Karina (she/her) is a 2D animator from Veracruz, Mexico. She worked on PELEA as a Clean-Up Artist. She’s passionate about independent animation and she truly believes in this project. I'm very grateful to be part of it and to have the chance to support the team in bringing it to life.
Tracey Muy Luna
Background Artist
Tracey (she/her) is a Guatemalan-American concept Artist, graphic designer, animator, and illustrator from Orange County ,California. Tracey has worked on projects that range from live action film making, animation and physical print. She studied at Cal State University Fullerton where she received her Bachelors in Animation/Entertainment art. Tracey joined PELEA due to the positive social and environmental messages that are present in the short. She believes spreading awareness through visual media is essential to the world around us and is excited to share her art to help bring this important and beautiful story to life.
Neave Asuro
Background Artist
Neave (they/them) is a background designer and visual development artist based in Los Angeles, CA. As a proud non-binary and Filipino artist, Neave highlights their heritage and queer identity through their vibrantly fantastical visual storytelling. They have earned their Bachelor of Arts at CSU Northridge (2022) and have been working as a freelance background artist for Spindlehorse Toons’ web series, “Helluva Boss” since 2023. Neave joined the PELEA project because they were deeply moved by the story’s overarching message: demanding justice for indigenous lands, its people and their future against colonialism and environmental degradation, all while portraying earnest and complex queer relationships with the story’s main protagonists.
